Current press kits

  • About the Treatment Advocacy Center History, mission, board list, FAQs, bios.
  • Kevin's Law, Michigan Kevin Heisinger was beaten to death by Brian Williams, a man with untreated schizophrenia. Michigan lawmakers will introduce "Kevin's Law" in his honor in early 2002.
  • Kendra's Law, New York Kendra’s Law allows courts to order certain individuals with brain disorders to comply with treatment while living in the community. Named after Kendra Webdale, who was killed after being pushed into the path of a New York City subway train by a man with severe mental illness who had a history of noncompliance with treatment. When it took effect on Nov. 8, 1999, Kendra’s Law made New York the 41st state to have assisted outpatient treatment.

About press kits

The Treatment Advocacy Center has compiled online press kits to give media a gateway to information about one issue or initiative. Press kits offer links to TAC materials - press releases, fact sheets, briefing papers - as well as links to independent news articles, outside web sites, and other resources. Kits are updated periodically as new materials become available or as events change.

For some kits, two versions are available. The QUICK KIT offers links to a small number of materials, usually fewer than 10, to give a broad overview of the issue. The FULL KIT includes much more material, for when you have time to browse.

Let us know what you think of this feature - good and bad, things we should add or remove.
