State Rep. Virg Bernero (D-Lansing) - Cosponsor of Kevin's Law

Former executive director of the Michigan Association for Children with Emotional Disorders, a United Way advocacy group for children's mental health. As legislative aide to Sen. Jim Berryman, his promary focus was developing sound policy initiatives for mental health and children's issues. Bernero has a sibling with mental illness, and continues to advocate for mental health issues during his first term in the Michigan legislature.

State Rep. Tom George (R-Portage) - Cosponsor of Kevin's Law

A physician who is board-certified in two medical specialties, anesthesiology and hospice and palliative care. He was elected to the Michigan legislature in 2000. While a medical student, he worked for two years at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ypsilanti, Michigan. His brother, Mike, was afflicted with schizophrenia.
