goldbar.gif (401 bytes)

Following is a list of links and letter submission options for New York newspapers in alphabetical order. If your local paper is not listed here, go to their web site and look for the letters or opinion section for instructions. Good luck!

Albany Times-Union. All letters to the Times Union are subject to editing for length, taste and accuracy. Only letters written exclusively to the Times Union will be used, and only if the writer's name can also be published. To be considered for publication, letters must include the writer's name, address and daytime phone number. Contributors should specify whether they want their e-mail addresses published. Letters published in the newspaper will also appear in the opinion section of timesunion.com.

Buffalo News. The Buffalo NewsTM welcomes letters. Every single letter which we print in the paper is verified by telephone, so be sure to sign your letter and include your address and a day-time phone number.

Ithaca Times.

The Journal News. The editors invite you to send your brief letters. Letters may be edited for length.
Please provide name, address and telephone number for verification. Letters may be published in print and/or distributed electronically.

New York Daily News. The Daily News cares what you think! If you wish to express your opinion on any topic by submitting a letter to the editor ("Voice of the People") for publication, please include your full name, address and phone number. (This information will be used for verification purposes only; failure to include the information invalidates your request.) The Daily News reserves the right to edit letters. The shorter the letter, the better the chance it will be used.

New York Post. We reserve the right to edit and condense all letters.

New York Times. Letters to The Times should only be sent to The Times, and not to other publications. We do not publish open letters or third-party letters. Letters for publication should be no longer than 150 words, must refer to an article that has appeared within the last seven days, and must include the writer's address and phone numbers. No attachments, please. We regret we cannot return or acknowledge unpublished letters. Writers of those letters selected for publication will be notified within a week. Letters may be shortened for space requirements.

Newsday. Letters should be fewer than 250 words. They will be edited for length, clarity and accuracy. Writers must mention relevant financial, political or other interest in a subject. All letters, including those sent via e-mail, must have the writer's day and night telephone numbers and mailing address. E-mailed letters should NOT be sent as attachments. We cannot acknowledge or return letters. Letters become the property of Newsday and may be published in all media. Anonymous letters will not be printed.

Queens Times-Ledger. Please include your contact details for verification. We do NOT publish addresses or phone numbers, only the writer's name and the Queens community in which he or she resides. Letters to the editor are subject to editing and will be published in the print editions at the discretion of the editor before they appear online.
